Hallmarks of Cancer: progress and perspectives

Robert Weinberg and Douglas Hanahan will offer perspectives on their now classic framework for understanding the biology of cancer. First introduced a decade ago, the “Hallmarks of Cancer” has recently been updated to include emerging hallmarks, such as altered energy metabolism, and to reflect advances in understanding the impact of genomic instability, inflammation, and the tumor microenvironment on cancer progression. Weinberg and Hanahan will discuss the frontiers of cancer research and offer insight into how the hallmarks concepts can be applied to the treatment of human cancers.
